Got Questions?

There are so many questions we are frequently asked and hopefully, the answer to yours are below, however, if you would like to know more, why not test out our email skills. Contact Us, we’d love to fill in the blanks.

Is the skipper included?

Yes! The price includes our experienced skipper and a full team of crew!

Is there a bar on board?

Yes, we have a fully licensed bar on board with beer, wine and soft drinks! Alcoholic beverages are served from 12 with lunch! As we are a licensed venue unfortunately BYO is not possible.

What's for lunch?

Our standard buffet style lunch is included. Our chef prepares two hot dishes with one catering for vegetarians or vegans, and 5 cold salads plus fresh bread. Allergies can be catered for on request! If you have any specific requests please let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate!

Can we choose our destinations?

We have over 25 locations to choose from on the Outer Great Barrier Reef.  We can visit any one or two of these outer reefs on your charter. We suggest chatting with our experienced skipper on the day and asking him which one he would recommend based on the weather.

Can we bring our own music?

Absolutely! It’s your party! Feel free to bring along your own iPod or we can connect your Spotify account to our speakers.

What time do we depart?

We highly recommend departing at 8am to get the most out for your day! Its takes approx. 2 hours to get to some of the best reefs so the sooner we get moving the sooner you can enjoy the Great Barrier Reef!

Can we bring our fishing gear?

Unfortunately not. We will be showcasing some spectacular reefs that all in a green zone and heavily protected.

What do I bring?

Bring a hat, sunscreen, bathing gear, sunglasses, towel, etc. as you would for travelling to the beach. We have credit card facilities on the boat.

Can I scuba dive on the day? And what if I have no dive experience?

Yes, you can. Our diving instructors are available for all charters and dives can be purchased in advance or on board. Scuba Diving experience is not necessary. Anybody with general good health can enjoy the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. Please note, all scuba divers must complete a dive medical questionnaire aboard the boat. Some illnesses such as asthma may preclude you from scuba diving. Please check with your doctor or our office if you have any queries.

Do you have a photographer onboard?

Yes, if you would like to add this optional extra, our photographer is available for private hire to capture the entire day or we can provide rental cameras to showcase your own photography skills!

Is there a shaded area to sit?

Yes! When you arrive on onboard our crew will escort you to your table for the day. All of our tables are in the airconditioned salons, here you can park your belongings for the day and then choose to sunbath outside or stick to the shade indoors! If you are bringing a stroller on board we just ask that you make sure to arrive early to check in so we can get you on board first!

What if it's raining?

Usually the rain in Cairns tends to stick to the mountains. Cairns is in a valley and attracts fairly high rain falls, being part of the wet tropics environment. However as our reef is 40 km’s off shore, the clouds don’t collect and the rain tends to stay away. If you wake up in the morning in Cairns and it is raining…don’t panic! It will usually be fine out at unique outer reef locations.

Do you provide all of the dive and snorkel equipment?

Yes, everything. We have snorkel equipment sized for adults and children. Life jackets are available for small children and flotation belts for the slightly bigger little ones. We even have dive computers for the certified divers!

What if I can’t swim?

The Passions of Paradise crew will look after you. The boat has a large range of snorkel vests and buoyancy aids available for you to use, and there are two snorkel stations near our boat for you to hold on to while you build up your confidence. Our crew will also hop in the water with you until you are comfortable.

Are there many sharks?

You may be lucky enough to see a little white or black tip reef shark pass you by as small reef sharks are common. However, they are very shy.
